Biography
Abdullah Dermenci was a Crimean Tatar poet and writer born in Yalta in 1905. He attended the teachers' school there from 1921 to 1926, during a period of expansion in Crimean Tatar education and teacher training.
He contributed to İleri in the journal's later years. His education and literary work connect him with the institutions that supported native-language publishing and schooling in the 1920s. The thesis's account of his time at the Yalta school provides a concrete link between that educational setting and the journal's circle of contributors.
Dermenci died in 1976. The material supplied for this archive records his early training and literary affiliation but offers little detail about his later life.
